Broken

Broken

She carries the weight of other people

on her shoulders,

hunched over,

succumbing to the pain that

is often hidden by the pills.

Her sunken, tired eyes

once bright with life, now

tell a story of love fizzled, and

dreams lost to a knife.

Motherly and kind,

but with no one to mother

she carries the weight

of others

on her shoulders

but forgets to carry her own.
